HAS THE FOOD CHANGED THAT MUCH??
Genetics + individuality + environment exposure = toxic load.
Toxic load= chemicals exposure from environment (antibiotics, preservatives, pesticides, stress, GMOs, etc..) may disrupt a developing immune system
Food is now grown and manufactured in artificial ways that may be harmful to the body - added chemicals, GMOs, pesticides, antibiotics..
•Developing immune systems (with toxic load) of young children have become dysregulated and may be prone to react to food today.
•Fruits & vegs are now sprayed with pesticides and irradiated
• Increasing GMO food now hitting the market and no laws around labelling (ie. peanut DNA in tomatoes, frog DNA in corn)
• Animal factory conditions (steroids, growth hormones, antibiotics, GMO feed)
• Pasteurization, food processing, manufacturing= chemicals for shelf life
CHEMICALS (food dye & additives)
•Chronic irritation/inflammation of lining from allergens/antibiotics/bacteria.
•Microvilli may become damaged or encrusted-unable to filter or assimilate vitamins/minerals from food.
•Tight junctions of the intestinal tract begin to loosen (leak) allowing food, chemicals, bacteria into the bloodstream
•These particles cause the immune system to mount a defense.
•Antibodies (IGG, IGA, IGE) are created to attack or clean up these ‘invaders’ as they circle the body.
•Can be immediate (swelling/pain/bloating) or insidious (post nasal drip/ear infection/eczema).
•Leads to microbiome imbalance= dysbiosis, overgrowth of aggressive bad bacteria.
•Immune system and liver work overtime to clear excess invaders- organ fatigue sets in.
•Continued leak into bloodstream can cause harm/manifest anywhere in the body= symptoms begin.
THE BODY SPEAKS:
Breathing trouble/tongue swelling/congestion
Ear infections/excess mucus
Hair loss/dry scalp
•Via vagus nerve
•Same cell cluster as fetus develops
•Gut and brain communicate all the time (nauseus with headaches, concussion affect bowel flora, alcohol intoxication)
•What you eat affects your mood!
What can you do?
Become a ‘Food Detective’!
•Start a food diary (reactions can be 24hr later)
•Elimination test (remove for 3 days- reintroduce)
•Eat the rainbow- rotation and variety important (whole foods)
•Read ingredient labels (they are complicated on purpose)
•Educate and involve the children in the kitchen
What can I do?
•Guide for protocol to rebalance the body.
•Assess for possible nutritional deficiencies
•Determine supplementation unique to child
•Help detect hidden food allergies (testing)
